September 11th Thoughts

Portrait of my Buelo

“World War II Memory: Portrait of My Buelo”

Today marks fourteen years since the 9/11 attacks. It’s one of those tragedies that is a flashbulb memory. For everyone really…no matter where you were, how old you were or what you were doing, you can never forget what happened on United States soul. I am not one for politics, but this is one of the few things that I can discuss passionately.

For that moment in time, each one of us came together as close knit as any community or a larger extended family could to give aid, others risking and or losing their lives for fellow Americans. For some of us that were children, we observed and realized the best we could of what was occurring.

I guess a lot has to do with the fact that my buelo is a World War II veteran so a sense of patriotism was instilled in me and my family since a young age. We all have it in one form or another.

Where were you on that day when it seemed that time stood still?
