Daily Workout: Samurai Edition

Not all of us have the money for a gym membership or a collection of workout programs to boost up the shape you are in or want to get in. Students, you know who you are, or if you can, more power to you.

There can be other things going on such as health reasons that may prevent you from lifting heavy weights or everyone’s favorite, lack of time.

Mixing up workout routines takes creativity. Just pick up a broomstick, a solid wood cane, or a tree branch. I just call it an unorthodox workout aka samurai edition.

Samurai Jack

Well just stick to a broom stick or any stick with a decent weight for starters. You do not need a katana for this so there will be no slicing or dicing. Although if you are a martial artist or are itching to learn a martial arts style, practicing with a blade is actually a lot more fun I will have to admit especially if you add your own twists to it!

The movement in the pictures are actually pretty basic to do, so there is a reason behind the silly humor. The workout was developed by Ilaria Montagnani. Her book “Forza The Samurai Sword Workout: Kick Butt and Get Buff with High-Intensity Sword Fighting Moves” is on Amazon so check it out if you want to read up on it.

Widen your stance for support. Stiffen up on those lunges and squats! It helps work your core and arms so start off slow!
